Band & Guard have a very successful weekend at the McKenzie Classic...
17 October 2004
Over the past weekend, the Ferndale High School Band & Color Guard traveled four hours to the south to compete in the McKenzie Classic Marching Band Competition at Evergreen High School in Vancouver, WA. It was the first competition of the 2004 season for the young performers. After a slightly shaky preliminary performance, the group pulled together for one of the best performances the program has seen in some years. This performance was rewarded with a 7th Place overall finish, which is the highest placement the program has ever earned at a Northwest Marching Band Circuit competition.
Program Director Steve Menefee was elated with the group’s performance saying, “It was absolutely amazing seeing the kids pull together a performance like they did tonight. I definitely look forward building on the success we’ve earned tonight in the two remaining competitions for the 2004 season.”
A video of the group’s finals performance is available on the multimedia page in addition to a link to pictures that were provided by the Evergreen High School Band Boosters. The band's website can be found at www.ferndaleband.org.
