Ferndale Band invited to perform at the Highland Games...
17 May 2005

One of the largest events to take place in Ferndale just got a little bit bigger. The Highland Games, an annual Scottish cultural event, will feature the Ferndale High School Marching Band and Color Guard for a performance just before the pipe band competition. The games, which will be held June 4th this year, are hosted by the Bellingham Pipe Band, and is complete with bagpipers, drummers, dancers and ancient sporting events. This will be the first time the Highland Games has asked a high school band to perform. Because of the obvious differences in instrumentation the Ferndale Band will be performing in exhibition only. This will be the premier performance of the music for their 2005 marching band show. The show includes selections from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Phantom of the Opera”.
