Ferndale Concert Band receives “Superior” rating for the 2nd year in a row...

For the second year in a row the Ferndale Band has received a Superior rating at the SJMEA Large Group Festival on March 22nd. This event showcases entire bands in contrast to the SJMEA Solo/Ensemble Festival which already took place in January. The festival took place at Western Washington University’s recital hall. Each band was evaluated by three adjudicators during a twenty minute performance followed by a clinic with one of the adjudicators. Ratings can be given as follows: 4 – Fair; 3 – Good; 2 – Excellent; 1 – Superior. Since Ferndale began participating in this festival in 1999, the band has received an “Excellent” rating up until 2005 when they earned their first “Superior” rating. Congratulations on a job well done and the continuing the trend for excellence at Ferndale High School.
